Transforming Your Outdoor Space with Quality Landscaping Services
At Offshoots, we believe that public and residential landscapes in the US should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also sustainable, organic, and contribute to natural ecologies. We are a hybrid practice offering both landscape architecture and planning services, as well as productive landscape installation services. Our name change from Kennen Landscape Architecture to Offshoots in 2012 reflects our shift towards a more functional and sustainable approach to landscape design.
Our team is composed of MassDOT Approved Landscape Architect Managers, certified Organic Land Care Professionals, and Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professionals. We are a Women Owned Business, led by Kate Kennen, a MA Registered Landscape Architect. Our approach to landscape design is centered around the idea of "productive landscapes." Instead of focusing solely on aesthetics, we consider what the landscape can do and how it can function to benefit the environment, local economy, and community. This could include creating edible food sources, supporting local wildlife, or even reaching net Zero CO2 emissions.
Our services range from urban planning and design to the installation and maintenance of productive landscapes. We have worked on various projects, such as the Hood Bike Park, which received an ASLA Honor Award and an International Architecture Award, and the North Shore Biotech Campus, where we collaborated with Richard Burck Associates. We have also completed residential projects like the Westwood Residence, which utilizes permaculture principles, and the Anejo Restaurant on Cape Cod, featuring a unique outdoor patio.
Our mission is to create landscapes that are not only beautiful but also functional and sustainable. We believe that by focusing on what the landscape can do, we can make a positive impact on the environment and the community.
