History

Our journey began when Frank and Mary Wolfe, both horticulture graduates from the University of New Hampshire, acquired the property at 37 Lake Street in the early 1970s. They employed their knowledge and skills, with Frank overseeing construction of the sales and work areas, including the original 8-bay greenhouses. The grounds were transformed into a thriving garden center, which Mary and her young son Tim often assisted with. After years of hard work, the Lake Street Garden Center opened its doors in early May 1974, with Tim cutting the ribbon for the official opening.

Getting Here

To locate us, simply follow these directions:

1. From I-93 North and South: Take Exit 3 (Route 111 East) and follow the signs to Salem, NH.

2. From RT 111 (Eastbound): Follow Route 111 East to the junction of RT 28, then take a right onto RT 28 South.

3. From RT 111 (Westbound): Follow RT 111 West into Salem, NH. Turn left onto RT 28 South.

4. From Main Street RT 97 (Westbound): Follow RT 97 from Haverhill into Salem, then turn right onto Lake Street.

5. From RT 97 (Eastbound): Follow RT 97 to the junction of RT 28, then turn left onto RT 28 North.
