"I met Carlos Ponce in May of 2017. I had put together a design that would replace my old macadam driveway, brick sidewalks, and three large brick patio areas with new stone pavers. Two local contractors were recommended to me by Cal Stone. Plus another guy they mentioned, Carlos Ponce. I talked with Carlos on the phone and decided to include him in the bid process. He came to my house, carefully reviewed my plan, and promptly gave me a quote. He also explained he would be doing the work himself, along with his crew. He gave me some good education and also asked had I considered mounding the front yard, which I had not, and wound up doing. It turned out beautiful, clearly the most distinctive front yard in the neighborhood. His approach was non-corporate. Old school, honest, direct, and real. The fact he would be doing it himself, completely hands-on, sold me. This was a great deal of high-end, beautiful Sierra Granite pavers, on top of 12 inches of crushed stone base. We wound up doing a completely new sprinkler system, latticework over one patio, and a 12-foot paver circle on one side of the house. In addition, we built a 14-foot screen, made with 4 by 4s and cross wire, then covered with Trumpet vines. This was to block the view of my back neighbor's two-story monster house which was always leering down on my back yard. The front and back yards were weed screened, covered with new topsoil, and planted with low-maintenance ground cover. Japanese maples were placed on one side of the front yard. This was a huge job, and it turned out perfect. I could not be happier. He's a hard worker, and a man of his word."
