Connecting People, Plants, and the Planet

The Civic Garden Center is a regionally recognized nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to teaching people how to grow food and care for the environment since 1942. Founded on the principles of community building, sustainability, and horticulture, we are Cincinnati's go-to resource for all things gardening, sustainability, and horticulture.

Our Work

Our work spans three broad areas: growing, nurturing, and connecting. We focus on helping people grow food, nurture ecology, and build community. Whether you're a new gardener, a community or hobby gardener, or a professional horticulturalist, we're here to support you.

Growing: Anywhere & Everywhere

Whether you have a yard, a raised bed, or just a pot on a windowsill, we're here to support you. From advising gardeners on what to plant and how to care for their gardens to providing resources for urban agriculture, we're here to help you grow your own food.

Nurturing: Ecology for Everyone

To us, ecology is about interconnectedness. We believe that understanding the relationships between plants and animals (including us!) and the world around us is crucial for a healthy and sustainable future. Our programs focus on teaching people about ecology and environmental stewardship, providing resources for individuals, communities, and professionals to extend that interconnectedness to all.

Connecting: In Learning and Beyond

In a world where technology has connected people in countless ways, we believe that face-to-face connections are still essential to building strong communities. Our programs and events provide opportunities for people to come together, share knowledge, and build relationships around a shared interest in gardening, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.

What We Stand For

Our mission is building community through gardening, education, and environmental stewardship. We believe that by working together, we can create a healthier, more sustainable world for ourselves and future generations.

Getting Involved

Whether you're interested in taking a class, volunteering, or simply learning more about what we do, we'd love to have you join us. Explore our grounds, visit our gift shop, or sign up for our monthly e-newsletter, The Civic Gardener, to stay up-to-date on what's happening at the CGC.
