Our Story

At Puryear Farms, we take pride in being a leader in the landscape industry for the Middle Tennessee region northeast of Nashville. Our journey began in 1990 when John Puryear returned to his hometown of Gallatin after earning his degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design from the University of Tennessee. Together with his wife Laura, who also graduated with a degree in horticulture, they decided to make Gallatin their home due to their deep love for the community, which has been part of their family since 1783.

Our History

In 1991, John and Laura Puryear started their landscaping business on the family farm on the north banks of the Cumberland River. With the help of family members, they planted their first crop and built their first greenhouse. Over the years, the size and scope of their operation grew exponentially, employing over 70 people and serving a large portion of Middle Tennessee. Throughout the years, John has attributed the growth and success of the company to his dedicated staff of professionals who share the core values of honesty and integrity.
