Our Story

L.G. Scott Landscaping and Tree Service is more than just a business; it's a family legacy built on generations of passion for the green industry. Our roots run deep, stretching back to the Great Depression when our great-grandfather, Ernest Scott, dedicated himself to conservation work with the Civilian Conservation Corps, contributing to numerous projects across the Northeastern United States. His son, Larkin G. Scott, carried the torch by serving our country honorably in both World War II and the Korean War. Upon returning home, he poured his heart and dedication into establishing his own landscaping and tree service in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This business not only provided necessary services to the community but also became a cherished learning ground for Larkin G. Scott II, his son and the father of our current owners.

Larkin G. Scott II grew up immersed in the world of growing things, assisting his father in every facet of the business. He, too, served his country with distinction, joining the US Navy and later utilizing the GI Bill to earn his Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Delaware Valley College. Combining his practical experience with his formal education, Larkin sought opportunities to further his knowledge and expertise, working for a large landscaping firm in the Northeast. Yet, his heart always drew him back to Virginia, where he had a meaningful experience while stationed in the Navy.

Deciding to relocate his family to the Virginia countryside, Larkin discovered a new opportunity-managing a feed and garden supply store. While this venture allowed him to stay connected to the green world, the spirit of entrepreneurship never truly left him. After years away from landscaping, he felt a renewed calling to return to his roots and L.G. Scott Landscaping and Tree Service came to be.

In 2008, Larkin G. Scott II passed the torch to his two eldest sons, Larkin G. Scott III and Luke G. Scott, who carry forward their family's commitment to excellence and dedication to serving their community.
